When silence makes noise

Why is he behaving with me this way?

What wrong have I done?

Whats's my fault??

He behaves so nicely with everybody,helps everybody ,but me.

I feel so bad.

These questions have been few of the most difficult questions for me to answer.

These are not the questions of a heart broken lover but rather the questions of a depressed employee.

Yes,you read it right!

I have been hearing her say and ask these questions to me for so long now.

Every time she asks me these questions there are only two things I ask her to do :

One: Please take a stand for yourself.

Second:Please stay strong.

The girl I am talking about is my best friend of almost 7 years.

She joined a software company in the year 2015, in the Silicon Valley of India,Bangalore.

When she joined the company she was so happy, full of hopes and aspirations ,the excitement of earning her first salary beamed through her eyes.

But within one month into her job she realized things going otherwise.

Now after almost six months into her job, her condition is worse than ever before.

The kind of mental and emotional battle she is going through is really a tough fight and she is trying to be her strongest.

Yet listening to her pain every other day,makes me feel helpless enough for being unable to help her in any possible way.

The kind of unprofessional-ism she is facing at her workplace:

1.Her superiors treating her badly(not talking to her properly,insulting her,secluding her from all kinds of activities going on in the office,not helping her understand her work)

2. She's loaded with lots of work with absolutely no guidance or help provided to her by her superiors.

3.They give her strict deadlines to complete her task ,though this is common with IT Industry but when she gets stuck with a code or is unable to understand how to go about it and she approaches the project lead for help, she's answered with cold looks,rude ,rash behavior and an order summoning her to do it all by herself.

I really wonder how can a person, so unprofessional in behavior towards the new entrants in the company, be  made a project lead?

4.This instance really shocked me.

When my best friend did the programming and modifications as expected by the client and asked the project lead if she can mail it to the client for the project to move ahead,the project lead stopped her from doing so and  by midnight he mailed the client claiming all the work being done by him.

I would really like to ask these questions to any virtuoso of the IT industry:

1. Is this the right thing to do with a new hardworking joiner to a company?

2. Maybe something like company politics exists, but what would you gain by taking away the rights and efforts of a new joiner and claiming them to be yours ?(You would already be earning so much more than this new girl,Shame on you man!)

3.What makes a project lead seclude a new joiner from the rest of the people in the team,not helping the joiner,demotivating her and trying her patience and absolutely for no reason ??

4.What makes you behave in such an impassive way that she is succumbing to never ending stress and depression?

5.My friend cries herself to sleep every other night.

She can't leave her job and she thinks speaking about this to any superior can cost her, her job, which by the way,may stand true.

6.She sits extremely quite all day long struggling to get through the code, correcting the errors, trying to survive without any support from you project lead and you, all you can do is manipulate her hard work to earn appreciation from your superiors and may be to add a little more weight to your already heavy paychecks? 

7.Is this the case of discrimination  against a North Indian in South?

BIG Shame on you man!

These incidents have made my friend lost all her interest in life and she is far from being happy.

She claims to have lost all happiness in the process of satisfying her project lead's never ending rudeness at work towards her.

No employee would expect a project lead to become her best friend and render privileges to a new joiner such as relaxation in deadlines.

No! no one is asking for that but simple professionalism and good work ethics is what is expected of you.

But Shame on you man because for namesake you are the project lead but in reality such an "Apathetic Human" at heart.!

She would be silent now and she may continue to be silent even tomorrow,(which I don't want her to be,though) but remember 

when silence makes noise,your ears won't be able to bear the unpleasant surprise!

I stand by her. Do you?
